There are two cats here, Frank and Steve. Frank is a ginger cat, and has relatively short fur and is very, very friendly. According to Edelweiss, most cats avoid strange people, but when she came up to Frank, he didn't run off, and instead enjoyed her petting him, and rolled over and whatnot. Now he purrs when she is simply around. Really likes me petting him too. Poor Frank has some sort of constant infection in his eyes, so they stay closed a lot of the time, or very, very slit-like.
Steve is black and white patches, with long fur. He tends to wander around the premises quite a bit (Frank stays near the house), and when we arrived it was in the "bad books" for killing a bird. Since then, it has been stalking around the nest in the broken house, though apparently have little success. Not as friendly as Frank, in my opinion.
Both cats are not allowed on the dinner-table, but occasionally get up there.
There does seem to be a difference between cats and dogs in that when a dog is trained not to do something, he won't do it. A cat, on the other hand, will only not do it if she thinks she will get caught. I guess people are a mix of that too. I was talking with Edelweiss on this topic, and she thinks most people are like cats, though some religious people are like dogs because "God is always watching" *scary look*. I figure that there are plenty of people out there who won't break the law regardless of whether they will get caught, but Edelweiss thinks that I'm just peculiar. Of course, it could be said that "God is always watching" about me, except that in my case, it is me who is always watching. And I feel responsible when it comes to watching my behaviour, which is part of why I don't drink or otherwise influence my judgement.
Sidetracked!
