Notes on the Animals: The Ducks
There is a family of ducks living here as well. Two of them are adults, and the rest are more or less teenagers. They aren ot mallards, but istead look alarmingly close to geese (I have had traumas with geese in the past, and I think if I wrote some sort of horror story with geese, it would resonate well with a lot of people). They are not geese, however, as evidenced by quacking, not honking, and a much more shy attitude. Whenever I show myself, they all turn their heads to one side and stare at me, quacking to each other. They have a chicken-wire home, with a smaller, insulated nighttime home. I don't think they like me much, probably because I'm big and scary. While it is nice to know that I'm scary to some things, I do wish they would like me. So apparently in the scale of dominance I am somewhere between donkeys and ducks (and far under cats, dogs, and most humans).
